The word Nahual derives from nahualli which, in Nahuatl, means "hidden". However, it is a term that incorporates other meanings such as disguise, deceive and hide.
For the Otomi, the term "nahual" designates three different realities: 1._the alter ego of the human soul. 2._the healer transformed into an animal. 3._ a specific animal that endangers the lives of newborns during the first months of their existence.
The legend about the nahuales is one of the oldest myths that exist in our country, told by our grandparents and by the grandparents of our grandparents, there is a great mystery behind these legends, which over the years i t has been deformed, there are several versions and anecdotes about it that we will soon share with you. Below you will find different cases that have been presented of these strange mythological beings.
