THE PROTECTED OF TEZCATLIPOCA.
In the Mexica belief system, Tezcatlipoca was the god of the night, obsidian, the north, and witchcraft, among other concepts. This explains, in part, the fact that he was related to the nahuales, who were said to be his proteges.
Tezcatlipoca himself, it was believed, took the form of a jaguar, just as Quetzalcóatl appeared as a feathered serpent and Huitzilopochtli as a hummingbird. This suggests that the concept behind the nahuales is based on these divine transmutations.
Now I don't know if the nahuales are good or bad.
ReplyDeleteThis topic of the nahuales is very interesting, because they have the ability to transform into animals and in Mexico there are many beliefs about these beings since pre-Hispanic times since Mesoamerican cultures.
